In terms of value, for example, Shape 1 is the lightest in value. The next lightest is Shape 4. Shapes 3 and 5 are almost identical in value, and both are darker than Shape 4. Shape 6 is the darkest, just barely darker than Shape 2.

In terms of color, Shapes 3 and 5 are the most saturated (vivid) greens in the scene. Shape 6 is a duller green while Shape 2 is similar to Shape 6 but slightly cooler (bluer). Shape 1 is the coolist and dullest color area, while Shape 4 is the warmest (a very dull yellowish-orange). Noticing these relationships before you even begin to mix the first color is extremely helpful.
